Creating a professional portfolio, is such a good way to market yourself, but having it available online gives you the advantage over the next person who may not be as technologically advanced. Sharing your information has it's advantages. It can put your information out there in an easy accessable way. But then again, that might not be such a good thing; giving your personal information for many people to view many not fall into the hands of the right person.
However, in today's society you need to learn how to be creative and one step ahead of the next person, in a competive world. These tasks can become frustruating and time consuming for one like myself, because I am so far behind in this new wave of technology.

Below is the link to my professional portfolio, I hope you enjoy, and I hope I did this right.

Library Thing

I realy enjoyed this site. When you view my books, you can see how I rated it, other common tags for these books, and my personal review. This site can be helpful in any profession or personal use because you can share books that you've read, or read what someone else has to say about a book you are thinking about reading. And, yes I love reading Harry Potter. On the serious side, you shoul really, really check out the book SPARK by Dr. Ratey, I saw him at a conference over a year ago, and become so caught up in his presentation that I bought the book, and I love reading it. I want to give my principal a copy. Enjoy!!

Podcasting

Podcasting, is something that I am a huge fan of. One of my professors during my undergrad used quite a bit of them. When I was roaming around on the required sites, I found an intresting podcast on obesity and children, towards the bottom of the subscription, it offered some cool site on lesson plan pages.
In both sites that my Professor provided me with, I found them to have an abundance of information on health, fitness, and childhood obesity, as well as information on Kinesiology. I think podcast are useful, when paper trails of information and a particular subject are not avilable. I particularly enj0y listening to them when I am working out, or on a long walk with the dog.

You Tube in Education

As I stated before, I have been on you tube, and I actually tried to embed a video of finding and taking heart rate to show to my students in a power point presentation I was doing on finding their RHR &MHR. However, I was not succesful because as we all know not many PE teachers have a classroom, and my labtop did not have wireless internet (let's just say my district did not want to pay for it). So, my attempt was uncessful.

I think you tube can be a useful tool in education because there are so many different videos out there that students connect with, and I am sure if I was doing a lesson on Basketball and proper form, I could definately pull up a video on K. Bryant shooting. I really believe it is what you make of it; you either create fun lessons and use appropriate videos or not.
If I get another attmept to show my kids a You Tube video that is appropriate and content related, I will definately use it.

sorry

Sorry, here is the address to view it!!

You Tube

I will admit, I have been on You Tube before, and I still am amazed at what people put up for other people to view. When trying to find something intresting, and something that represents a little of who I am, I decided to go with what is my passion (next to my family, and teaching). I was totally suprised to see this video of Fresno State softball winning the College World Series back in 1998; I was just fresh into college, when the internet was only a couple of years old (I think....). Anyways, I hope you enjoy this.

Technorati

This site is no where near anything like Deli.co.us; this site was full of nothing. I was frustrated when absolutely no searches came up for Kinesiology or anything related to physical education. When I did a tags search, nothing... when I did a blog directory search, nothing.. when I did a blog post search, nothing. If this site is supposed to be up to date with web 2.0 and enormous search bank, i think it failed. I would rather stick with Delicous!!

Del.cio.us

I think I really like this site......!!!! I found so many useful links with regards to PE, and coaching. For me, Del.cio.us is a web 2.0 site that carries tones of links and feeds to every topic imaginable. The cool thing is, if you creat an account , you are creating one big file with all your favoirte links. Delicious is a simpler way to keep your sites organized. You can tag them with specific words that will help you locate them later on. For example, I found a few sites with regards to physical education and tagged them "my pe", from now on if I find any more useful sites regarding PE, I can tag it the same, and all my go to sites will be in one spot. This is much easier then creating a favorite on the internet, and then having to look through it when you want something.
This site is also a good tool to share with calleagues ; you are able to post site that can be useful for them and vise versa.
